B&R STORES SELECTS AND IMPLEMENTS ADC'S P-CUBED SHRINK MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

Tampa, Fla. (February 1, 2011) – Applied Data Corporation (ADC), a leading provider of fresh item management, recipe management, and scales management software to the grocery retail and food service industries, announces that B&R Stores, a 17 store chain based in Lincoln, Nebraska, has selected and implemented ADC's P-Cubed (Perishable Production Planning) Shrink Management software module.

With ADC's Shrink Management software, B&R Stores' associates can electronically record in-store transfers at the shelf to accurately track inventory changes. Associates can also record reworks, throwaways and donations, as well as other user definable adjustments to inventories. The software provides data to compare shrink to sales, which improves visibility of fresh items moving within each store.

"Prior to using ADC's Shrink Management software, we did not have a formal shrink management system in place. We knew we were losing gross profit – we were not sure just how much. It was imperative that we get our hands around that information," said B&R's MIS Director, Roger Tracy. "Our decision to utilize ADC's software was based on our existing relationship, since we use InterScale, ADC's Scales Management Software."

Unilateral support across departments driven by B&R Stores' need for actual shrink numbers helped ensure that the installation of the system was efficient and thorough.

"We piloted the software for 6 months in a single store and then implemented it to the remaining 16 stores within 2 weeks," said Debra Peterson of B&R Stores. "We were able to see the actual numbers of throwaways and markdowns at each store. The resulting numbers led to discussions about how we could reduce shrink."

The Shrink Management software module is part of ADC's P-Cubed system that automates, manages and tracks production in all of the fresh departments of the grocery store. The P-Cubed software assists in the tracking of production department operations, maintaining accurate perpetual inventory and increased traceability with meat grind management and meat cutting tests.

"Our Shrink Management software is a focused application that is designed to cut costs, reduce waste and improve sales. The software provides increased visibility into how each store is functioning and how to address lost opportunities," stated ADC's President and CEO, Steve Loveridge. "The P-Cubed suite of software integrates with InterScale, as well as NutriGenTM, our recipe management software, within the InterStore.NET suite to offer grocery store chains a complete fresh item management solution."
